A driver who was not wearing their seat belt was killed in the Sunol area on Friday night when their vehicle crashed into a tree along Pleasanton Sunol Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Alameda County Coroner's Bureau on Sunday confirmed the decedent was Justin Hayman, 47, of Hayward.

The report first came in around 9:20 p.m. Friday that a vehicle had struck a tree on the county road north of the Highway 84 intersection, according to CHP-Dublin Officer Robert Purl.

A CHP unit responded to find the lone occupant of the vehicle unrestrained and unresponsive, and fire personnel soon arrived and pronounced the driver dead at the scene, according to Purl.

"During the initial investigation, no witnesses were located for this collision," Purl said. "Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash."

Anyone who has information about the crash can contact CHP-Dublin at 925-828-0466.
