Livermore police arrested two men for alleged drug possession -- one involving a gun -- in separate incidents this week.

At 4:45 a.m. Sunday, an officer was patrolling a parking lot on the 200 block of Vasco Road and saw a vehicle he recognized belonged to a man on felony probation.

The officer also allegedly saw drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the vehicle. Police searched the car and allegedly found two ounces of methamphetamine, one ounce of fentanyl and 60 Xanax pills. Mark Sarkes, 38, of Modesto was arrested on suspicion of possession and sale of drugs and transported to Santa Rita Jail. At 11:15 p.m.

Monday, police stopped a vehicle for several alleged violations on Southfront Road. The driver, 51-year-old Rene Reyes from Hayward, allegedly didn't have a valid driver's license and had several prior arrests for firearm possession. Police searched the car and allegedly found 1.58 grams of methamphetamine on Reyes, and 3.1 more grams of methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

An officer also found a loaded, unregistered pistol in the car, police said. Reyes was arrested on suspicion of illegal possession of drugs and a gun.
