Mexican Independence Day will be celebrated this weekend in Livermore at the San Francisco Premium Outlets.
On Saturday (Sept. 16) between 12:30-3:30 p.m., families, shoppers and residents of all ages can experience a series of activities throughout the afternoon between Bloomingdale’s and Old Navy, according to a statement from the outlets.
Authentic Mexican music will be performed by Mariachi Estelar and there will be arts and crafts for children as well as a scavenger hunt for hidden piñatas.
Organizers encourage visitors to get festive for the event. Those showing the most Mexican Independence Day spirit will be entered for a chance to win a $100 Simon Gift Card.
Food Truck Mafia will be on site along with other local vendors, offering a variety of culinary flavors throughout the event.
There will also be special deals and giveaways from Aeropostale, Michael Kors, Nike Factory Store, Tommy Hilfiger and other retailers as well as opportunities to win themed prizes including maracas, flags and treats.
"As one of NorCal’s premium, lifestyle shopping destinations, San Francisco Premium Outlets is proud to celebrate the diverse cultural heritage in the Alameda County community and Mexican culture," the statement reads.
In addition to Saturday's celebration, the outlets also recently announced new retailers set to join the more than 180 stores that occupy the shopping center.
Norway-founded fashion brand Helly Hansen and Rothy's, which designs and sells shoes and accessories, will be opening at the Livermore outlets this month.
The new Helly Hansen and Rothy's locations mark the first Bay Area outlet debut for both retailers.
Helly Hansen will offer outdoor fashions and gear for ski and sailing enthusiasts while Rothy's aims to continue creating sustainable shoes and bags for men, women and children that help decrease their environmental footprints as well as provide comfortable and fashionable merchandise.
These retailers join the recently opened Pandora, a jewelry brand that "showcases hand-finished and contemporary jewelry designs made from low-carbon, high-quality materials," according to the outlets.
In between shopping, visitors to the outlets will also soon find new dining options.
Suki Hana brings its Japanese cuisine to the outlets while Wok A Holic offers Chinese-style food and Popeye's serves its Louisiana-inspired menu and fried chicken.
Though these eateries were previously slated to open earlier this year, they experienced some delays in construction, according to the outlets. They will finally make their debuts this month; however, the outlets said they could not confirm specific opening dates at this time.
