After selling out a scheduled performance at the Bankhead Theater on June 13, The Smothers Brothers have announced a second Livermore show has been added for the following day.
The Smothers Brothers began performing together while attending San Jose State University and quickly developed a following with their folk sound and comedic edge.
The pair soon gained fame with a series of hit records, TV appearances and by briefly starring in "The Smothers Brothers Show," which paved the way for "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour" in 1967. The midseason replacement show quickly edged out "Bonanza" as the No. 1 show on television. For the five decades following the end of their comedy hour, The Smothers Brothers toured, finally electing to retire in 2010.
In 2019, the pair reunited on stage when they were inducted into The National Comedy Center and it spurred the brothers' current concert of musical comedy, classic video and Q&A.
The Smothers Brothers perform their second show in Livermore on June 14 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, $20-$75 and $20 for students and military personnel, go on sale to the general public this Wednesday (April 13) at noon. Livermore Valley Arts members may purchase tickets now through Wednesday via presale.
