This weekend Tri-Valley residents and visitors will be able to attend a concert bringing classical selections from famous British composers to life.
The Pacific Chamber Orchestra is set to perform "Refreshing" at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore this Sunday (May 21) at 3 p.m.
"Refreshing" celebrates very prominent and famous British composers from over the years. Show organizers have said it will highlight the "Fab Four" of composers: Gordon Jacob, Sir Edward Elgar, George Frideric Handel and Joseph Hayden.
Currently in their 34th season, PCO is a professional classical music orchestra of 42 musicians that performs throughout California.
Lawrence Kohl, music director for PCO, shared remarks about the show via a statement.
"From Baroque, to Classical to modern times, these four composers demonstrate musical charm, melody, playful wit, and especially the use of concise expression for maximum affectation," Kohl said. "Their techniques helped define and elucidate the engagingly unique British approach to Classical music."
Program producer and radio host, Julie Motz, also commented via statement about the orchestra, offering high praise for the group and Kohl as well.
"Miraculously the Pacific Chamber Orchestra only gets better each year, more precise and more lush in its interpretations of thrilling music and more emotionally enveloping," Motz said. "Bravi to all, and especially to the music director, Lawrence Kohl, for leading this very precious asset in the Bay Area arts treasure chest."
PCO will have another performance of "Refreshing" in Orinda on Saturday (May 20) at 7:30 p.m. in St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
