Tri-Valley Haven is set to open a new food pantry in Livermore next month. The new food pantry will be accessible to individuals and families from Livermore, Pleasanton and Dublin via multiple bus routes, according to a statement from the organization.

The new pantry facility — to be located at 150 N. L St. — is being converted into a market-style location including shelving, a walk-in freezer, refrigerators, an industrial sink and composting bins.

The nonprofit said it will run the pantry using a "client choice" model that allows food pantry clients, or guests, to pick the food that is appropriate for them and their family’s dietary needs. Tri-Valley Haven said it will also offer more fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy and eggs, among other food items — all free of charge for local residents in economic need.

In an effort to support this effort, Tri-Valley Haven has received a $25,000 matching campaign contribution from Livermore residents Alan and Mary Burnham.

“Tri-Valley Haven effectively feeds and shelters so many local families in great need. Mary and I wanted to support the Haven’s great work and make a difference in our local community. I hope others will join us in raising these vital funds for the Haven’s new pantry so that no Tri-Valley family ever goes hungry again,” said Alan Burnham of their decision to contribute to the effort.

All donations made to Tri-Valley Haven before Monday, Jan. 31 will be matched and doubled by the Burnham family up to $25,000 for a total of $50,000. For more information or to donate, visit trivalleyhaven.org
