Las Positas College in Livermore is holding commencement ceremonies on Saturday (May 28) to celebrate the graduating class of 2022.
Marking the first in-person ceremony at LPC in over two years, 300-plus graduates will receive their diplomas or certificates in staggered sessions -- one at 10 a.m. and the second at 12:30 p.m. -- in the Physical Education Complex, Building 2500 at the main campus.
Memorial Day ceremony
The Pleasanton community will honor U.S. military members who died in the line of duty on Memorial Day, marking the return of the annual ceremony after a pandemic hiatus.
The ceremony, organized by the American Legion Post 237 and VFW Post 6298, will start at 11 a.m. Monday (May 30) at the Pleasanton Senior Center at 5353 Sunol Blvd. Additionally, local Boy Scouts will be placing flags and medallions on veteran gravesites at Pioneer Cemetery on Sunol Boulevard beginning on Saturday morning.
The 626 Night Market is returning to the Alameda County Fairgrounds for this holiday weekend, with the popular event inspired by the famous open-air nighttime bazaars of Asia open in Pleasanton from Friday through Sunday.
The festival, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary, is set to feature more than 200 local food, merchandise, arts and crafts vendors, along with games, music and entertainment attractions designed to appeal to all ages, organizers said.

Library book sale
The Friends of the Pleasanton Library is hosting a fundraising book and media sale at the library downtown this Memorial Day weekend, starting Thursday and running through Sunday.
"You'll find an amazing selection of nearly new books, CDs, DVDs and more. Funds raised during the book sale go directly toward supporting library programs, services and equipment," organizers said.
Hours are today and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pleasanton Public Library, 400 Old Bernal Ave.
Also, this summer the foundation is accepting donations on Friday mornings only from June 10 to Aug. 12, with a limit of two bags or boxes per household.
The Wave reopening
The Wave Waterpark, owned by the city of Dublin, is reopening for the summer season starting this Saturday at 11 a.m.
Then, starting next week, the park will be open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. from June 4 to Aug. 5. Once school resumes, it will be open on weekends only from Aug. 6 to Labor Day. For more information on The Wave, visit thedublinwave.com or call 925-574-4800.
