CityServe of the Tri-Valley recently launched its inaugural Season of Serving (SOS), a collaborative platform that connects volunteers to local service projects throughout the region.

The various projects will run through the new year and range from helping seniors, to beautifying parks, to hosting community drives, organizers said in a statement.

"Our goal is to activate and inspire local residents to serve at one of the incredible local nonprofits, schools, parks or find a variety of other ways to serve with their families or colleagues during this festive season," said CityServe CEO Christine Beitsch-Bahmani.

She added, "Our unique platform engages all lanes of the service sector by making it easy for people to find meaningful ways to serve right here in their own community where they live."

There are four ways to get involved with the SOS initiative as an organization or individually. Organizations can submit a program or event that takes place between now and Jan. 3 or submit a service project in need of volunteers. The third option is to sign up to be a volunteer and the fourth is to donate.

"The SOS platform is not only an outlet to rally volunteers but a lifeline to many in need this holiday season," CityServe officials said.

The donation campaign has a goal of $150,000 and so far has raised $12,045 at the time of writing.

"We hope this is just the beginning of a united effort to make a life-changing impact in the lives of our neighbors and the Tri-Valley region as a whole," Beitsch-Bahmani said.
